Ch. 11
1. - ⲙⲛ̄ⲛ̄ⲥⲱⲥ, ⲁⲛⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̄ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲛⲉⲓ ⲉⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̄ⲁⲡⲁ ⲡⲁⲙⲓⲛ ⲁⲛϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛ̄ϩⲏⲧϥ̄ ⲛ̄ϩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲛ̄ϩⲟⲟⲩ.
  - Dopo ciò andammo via di lì e andammo al monastero di apa Pamin e stemmo lì per pochi giorni.

  - I fratelli allora si unirono a noi e divennero sempre più numerosi.
  - And the brothers gathered around us, and multiplied greatly.
3. - ⲙⲛ̄ⲛ̄ⲥⲱⲥ, ⲁ-ⲡⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ ⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲛⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲁϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙ̄ⲙⲁϥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟⲥ, ϫⲉ “ⲧⲉⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲛⲁⲕ, ⲱ ⲡⲁϣⲃⲏⲣ ⲙⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲧⲁⲓⲏⲩ ⲡⲙⲉⲣⲓⲧ ⲙ̄ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ. ⲉⲓⲥϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ, ⲁ-ⲡⲉⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲕⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̄ⲡⲁⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̄ⲧⲉ-ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲛ ϫⲓ-ⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲕ̄ ϩⲓϫⲙ̄ⲡⲕⲁϩ.
  - Dopo di ciò il Salvatore apparve a nostro padre e gli parlò dicendoL "La pace sia con te, o mio compagno onorato, amico di mio Padre. Ecco, è venuto il momento che tu riveli la mia gloria ed il mio nome sia glorificato per mezzo tuo sulla terra.

4. - ⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ϭⲉ, ⲛ̄ⲅⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲧⲕⲟⲟϩ ⲛ̄ⲅϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲙ̄ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ.
  - Alzati dunque, vai al monastero di Tetkooh e resta lì.
  - So arise and go to the monastery of Tetkooh, and dwell there.
5. - ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁ-ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲛ̄ⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲛⲟⲙⲓⲁ. ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲡⲁⲓ, ⲁⲓⲕⲱ ⲛ̄ϩⲏⲧϥ̄ ⲛ̄ⲛ̄ⲕⲉⲉⲥ ⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲕϣⲃⲏⲣ ⲙⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲁⲡⲁ ⲫⲓϥ, ϫⲉⲕⲁⲁⲥ ⲉⲕⲉϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲱⲱⲕ ϩⲙ̄ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ.”
  - Esso è infatti quello che mio padre ti ha dato come eredità. Perciò posi in esso le ossa del tuo compagno apa Phif, perché tu restassi in quel luogo."
  - For that is what my father has given to you as inheritance. Therefore, I have left in it the bones of your fellow companion, Apa Phib, so that you too shall dwell there.”
6. - ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲙ̄ⲡⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ, ϫⲉ “ⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉ-ⲟⲩⲛ̄-ϭⲟⲙ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟϥ ⲉϥⲓ-ⲡⲣⲟⲟⲩϣ ⲛ̄ϯⲟⲓⲕⲟⲛⲟⲙⲓⲁ ⲛ̄ϯⲙⲓⲛⲉ.
  - Rispose egli e disse al Salvatore: "Scegli un uomo che possa prendersi cura di una incombenza di tal genere.
  - He answered and said to the savior, “Look to a man who can tend to such a task.
7. - ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛⲅ-ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉϥⲧⲥⲧⲏⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̄ⲛⲁϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ.
  - Io infatti sono un uomo reietto in tutte le mie cose.
  - For I am a man who is turned away from all my affairs.
8. - ϯⲥⲟⲡⲥⲡ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟⲕ, ⲡⲁϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ, ⲉϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁⲓϭⲛ-ⲭⲁⲣⲓⲥ ⲛ̄ⲛⲁϩⲣⲁⲕ, ⲙ̄ⲡⲣ̄ϫⲟⲟⲩⲧ̄ ⲉⲡⲉⲓϩⲱⲃ.”
  - Io ti supplico, mio Signore, se io ho trovato grazia presso di te, non mandarmi a fare ciò."
  - I beg you, my Lord, if I have found favor before you, do not send me for this task.”
Ch. 12
1. - ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛ̄ϭⲓⲡⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ, ϫⲉ “ⲱ ⲡⲁⲥⲱⲧⲡ ⲁⲡⲟⲗⲗⲱ, ⲡⲉⲓϩⲱⲃ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲁ-ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲧⲟϣϥ̄ ⲛⲁⲕ ϫⲓⲛⲛ̄ϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥⲕⲱ ⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲕⲣⲁⲛ ϩⲙ̄ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ.
  - Ripose il Salvatore dicendogli: "O mio eletto Apollo, proprio questa cosa mio padre stabilì per te fin dal principio, affinché lasciasse il tuo nome in quel luogo.

  - non essere addolorato perché scenderai nel mondo, pieno di sofferenze e di lamenti. A causa del dolore della tua pena, o figlio mio, il giorno in cui nascerai dalla santa vergine Maria, lo porrò come indulgenza per rimettere i peccati del mondo.   - do not be sad that you're descending into the world that's filled with toil and sighing. Due to the toil of your travails, my son, on the day you'll be born from the holy virgin, Mary, I will set it free to forgive the world. Everyone who will believe in your cross and the resurrection of your flesh, I will tear up the list of their sins and grant them to you, my dear son. And the day of your glorious resurrection, I will let it be wholly free to forgive the entire world. And I will reveal a holy shrine on the earth in the end times, and set in it wholesome repentance, and a feast for my saints all over the world, and forgiveness to anyone who will believe in your name.’

  - Il dono dunque che mi padre diede a me, io a mia volta lo do a te, e ancora lo porrò in questo luogo e gli verrà imposto il nome del tuo santo compagno apa Phif. Non aver paura; io sono con te in ogni luogo, ti darò un nome grande e famoso, ti sentiranno tutti i popoli e verranno a portare doni nel tuo santuario; adoreranno il tuo luogo santo. Tutti i popoli verranno e diranno: 'Venite, andiamo sulla montagna del Signore, nella casa del Dio di Giacobbe. Egli ci dirà la sua strada e noi la percorreremo', come disse il profeta Isaia.
  - So the gift my father gave to me, I in turn give it to you, and furthermore I will leave it there, and the name of your holy fellow companion Apa Phib will be uttered over it. Do not be afraid, I am with you everywhere. I will give to you a great reputable name, and all the peoples will hear, and they will come and bring gifts to your shrine, and worship your holy abode. All the peoples will journey and say, ‘Come, let's go up to the mountain of the Lord, up to the house of the God of Jacob, and he'll tell us his way, and we'll walk in it,’ just like Isaiah the prophet had said.
5. - ϥⲥⲏϩ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ̄-ⲟⲩⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲙ̄ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲭⲱⲣⲁ ⲛ̄ⲕⲏⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲥⲧⲩⲗⲏ ϩⲁϩⲧⲛ̄ⲛⲉⲥⲧⲟϣ ⲙ̄ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ.
  - E sta anche scritto: 'Un altare ci sarà per il Signore nella terra d'Egitto, e una stele suoi confini per il Signore'.
  - And furthermore it is written: ‘There will be an altar to the Lord in the country of Egypt, and a stele to the Lord near its boundaries.’
6. - ⲡⲧⲟⲡⲟⲥ ϭⲉ ⲛ̄ⲧⲁⲓⲭⲁⲣⲓⲍⲉ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲥⲧⲩⲗⲏ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲙ̄ⲡⲁϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲁⲛⲟⲩⲡ. ⲉⲓⲥϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ, ⲁⲓⲧⲁⲙⲟⲕ ⲉⲛⲉⲧⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟⲕ ϩⲙ̄ⲡϣⲟϫⲛⲉ ⲧⲏⲣϥ̄ ⲙ̄ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲕⲧⲁϫⲣⲏⲩ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲉϫⲛ̄ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲛ̄ⲅⲧⲙ̄ⲣ̄-ϩⲏⲧ ⲥⲛⲁⲩ.
  - Il luogo dunque che io ho donato a te è l'altare, e la stele è il corpo del mio servo Anup. Ecco io ti ho annunziato tutte le cose che ti accadranno, proprio secondo la decisione di mio padre. Sii saldo nelle cose che ti ho detto e non dubitare.

7. - ϯⲛⲁⲧⲣⲉ-ϩⲉⲛⲛⲟϭ ⲛ̄ⲥⲙⲟⲩ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲕⲧⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲥⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲛⲁⲧⲣⲉⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲕϣⲏⲣⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛ̄ϥⲁⲓⲗⲁⲙⲡⲁⲥ ⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲭⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ. ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲛⲁϩⲁⲣⲉϩ ⲉⲛⲉⲕⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ϯⲛⲁⲭⲁⲣⲓⲍⲉ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲛ̄ϣⲏⲣⲉ ϩⲛ̄ⲧⲁⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ, ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲛⲁϭⲱ ⲉⲩⲙⲏⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̄ⲧϭⲓⲛⲣ̄ϩⲱⲃ ⲙⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲕϭⲓⲛϣⲙϣⲉ ⲥⲉⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲛ̄ϣⲏⲣⲉ ϩⲙ̄ⲡⲏⲓ ⲙ̄ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ.”
  - Io farrò che molte benedizioni sano nel tuo santuario, farò che chiamino i tuoi figli: lampadari di Crito. Tutti quelli che osserveranno i tuoi precetti li donerò a te come figli nel mio regno; tutti quelliche persevereranno nel lavoro e nella tua devozione saranno come tuoi figli nella casa di mio padre."
  - I will make great blessings happen in your shrine in every form, and I will have your companions be called the torch bearers of Christ. Anyone who will keep your commandments, I will grant them to you as children in my kingdom. Anyone who will persevere in the laboring and your ritual will be children to you in the house of my father.”
Ch. 13
1. - ⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁ-ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ, ⲁϥϫⲱ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ ⲛ̄ϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛ̄ⲧⲁ-ⲡⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ ϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ.
  - Subito mio padre mi chiamò e mi disse ogni parola che il Salvatore gli aveva detto.
  - And immediately my father summoned me, and told me everything the Savior had said to him.

  - When I heard these things, I was very amazed, and said to him, “My father, if this is how it pleases the Lord, let us act thusly. Let us follow the Lord, and keep his commandments. All laborings for the Lord are good. They are honorable and greatly favored, and they enter the Lord's house together.
3. - ⲧϩⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛ̄ⲧⲁϥⲧⲟϣⲥ̄ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ, ⲧⲛ̄ⲛⲁⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣ.
  - Nel modo infatti in cui ci ha comandato, faremo, secondo il suo desiderio."
  - For however he has arranged for us, we will do according to his will.”
Ch. 14

  - Dopo tutto ciò ci levammo e andammo via per andare al monastero di Tetkooh, il monastero che Dio ci aveva indicato, quello che aveva preparato per mio padre Apollo, e salimmo su un monte che si trova davanti ad un villaggio chiamato Taparoue.   - 'Ecco, è venuto il buon pastore che pascola le sue pecore nei pascoli della vita.'

  - Dopo ciò venne un coro di angeli e passarono tutta la notte a cantare e a danzare sul corpo del beato apa Phif, cantando l'inno, mentre gli angeli rispondevano loro: 'Questo monastero gioirà sempre più e sarà glorificato. Questo è il monastero del Signore, il monastero sublime, il monastero forte, il monastero ricco. Questo è il monastero in cui Dio volle dimorare per sempre; questa è la casa di Dio, la dimora dei giusti.'
  - Afterwards, a choir of angels arrived and spent the entire night singing hymns and dancing over the body of the blessed Apa Phib, singing the hymn with the angels repeating after them: ‘This monastery comes to rejoice, and it is glorified. This is the monastery of the Lord, the sublime monastery, the strong monastery, the abundant monastery. This is the monastery God wished to reside in until the end. This is the house of God, the residence of the righteous ones.’
8. - ⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲣⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲛⲁⲓ ⲁⲛⲣ̄-ϩⲟⲧⲉ ϩⲛ̄ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛ̄ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲛⲣ̄-ⲧⲉⲩϣⲏ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ̄ ⲉⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩϩ ⲉⲛⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ ϣⲁϩⲧⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲛⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥⲟⲩⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲛⲣ̄-ϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲉϫⲛ̄ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲛⲥⲟⲧⲙⲟⲩ.
  - Come sentimmo queste cose, fummo presi da gran timore e passammo tutta la notte riuniti insieme fino all'alba, benedicendo Dio, padre del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo, stupiti delle cose che sentivamo.
  - And when we heard these things we were greatly afraid, and spent the entire night gathered together until morning, praising God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and amazed at the things we had heard.
9. - ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ϭⲉ, ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲛⲛⲟⲟⲩⲕ̄ ϣⲁⲣⲟⲛ.
  - Ora dunque, è Dio nostro salvatore che ti ha mandato da noi.
  - So now it is God, our Savior, who has sent you to us.
10. - ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡϣⲱⲥ ⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟⲛⲉ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟⲛ ⲧⲏⲣⲛ̄ ⲛ̄ⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲙⲛ̄ⲛ̄ⲛⲟϭ ϩⲛ̄ⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧⲁⲅⲁⲑⲟⲥ. ⲉⲓⲥ-ⲛⲉⲛⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲙⲛ̄ⲛⲉⲛⲯⲩⲭⲏ ϩⲛ̄ⲛⲉⲕϭⲓϫ. ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲛ̄ⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ϩⲱⲱⲛ ⲛ̄ⲧⲛ̄ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲛ̄ϣⲏⲣⲉ.

Ch. 15
1. - ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛ̄ϭⲓⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟⲥ, ϫⲉ “ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ, ⲧⲛ̄ⲛⲁⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲡⲉⲕϣⲁϫⲉ.”
  - Ripose mio padre dicendo: "Se il tuo desiderio, o Dio, è questo, noi faremo secondo la tua parola."
  - My father answered, saying, “If this is your will, God, we will do according to your word.”

  - E ci riunimmo tutti insieme in numero di venti uomini stando presso mio padre.
  - And we gathered together at once, comprising about twenty people, settled beside my father.
3. - ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉϥⲥⲣⲟϥⲧ ⲉⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙ̄ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲥⲃⲱ ⲙⲛ̄ⲛ̄ⲕⲁⲛⲱⲛ ⲛ̄ⲛⲉⲛⲉⲓⲟⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲛ̄ⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ.
  - Mio padre dunque si occupava della parola di Dio e della dottrina e delle regole dei nostri santi padri gli apostoli:
  - And my father was at ease with the word of God and the teaching and the rules of our holy fathers, the apostles.
4. - ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ϩⲱ ⲛⲉⲓⲣⲱϣⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲭⲣⲉⲓⲁ ⲛ̄ⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ.
  - Io invece mi occupavo dei bisogni materiali dei fratelli.
  - And I, for my part, was responsible for the needs of the brothers.
5. - ϩⲉⲛⲛⲟϭ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̄ϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲛ̄ϩⲉⲛϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲉⲩϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ̄ ⲙ̄ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ.
  - E grandi miracoli avvenivano per mezzo di mio padre.
  - And great mighty works and miracles were occurring through my father.
6. - ⲛⲉ-ⲁ-ⲡⲉϥⲣⲁⲛ ⟦ⲣⲁⲛ⟧ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲣ̄-ⲥⲟⲉⲓⲧ ϩⲙ̄ⲙⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲕⲱⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲩⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛ̄ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧϣⲱⲛⲉ ⲉϥⲣ̄-ⲡⲁϩⲣⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ.
  - Infatti il suo nome era diventati famoso in ogni luogo in cui andava, e portavano da lui tutti quelli che erano malati, ed egli li guariva tutti.
  - For his name had been renowned everywhere he travelled, with all who were sick being brought to him and he healing them all.
7. - ⲁⲛⲟⲩⲱϣⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲕⲟⲩⲓ, ⲁⲛⲁⲓⲁⲓ ϩⲙ̄ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ.
  - Noi ci moltiplicammo a poco a poco, e crescevamo in Dio.
  - And little by little, we expanded and grew through God.
8. - ϩⲉⲛⲛⲟϭ ⲇⲉ ⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲉ-ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ̄ ⲙ̄ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ.
  - E grandi azioni buone Dio compiva per mezzo di mio padre.
  - And God performed great acts of good through my father.
Ch. 16
1. - ⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲣⲉⲛⲱⲥⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⲛ̄ⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲛ̄ⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ϩⲓϫⲙ̄ⲡⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲛⲙⲁⲕⲁⲣⲓⲟⲥ ⲛ̄ⲥⲟⲛ ⲁⲡⲁ ⲫⲓϥ.
  - Dopo un certo tempo costruimmo una piccola chiesa sul corpo del beato fratello apa Phif.
  - And after tarrying, we constructed a small church over the body of our blessed brother Apa Phib.
2. - ⲁ-ⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ϭⲱ ⲉⲩⲥⲩⲛⲁⲅⲉ ⲛ̄ϩⲏⲧⲥ̄ ⲙ̄ⲙⲏⲛⲉ ⲙ̄ⲡⲁⲧⲟⲩⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲩⲟⲉⲓⲕ. ⲙⲛ̄ⲛ̄ⲥⲱⲥ, ⲁ-ⲡⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ ⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲁϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙ̄ⲙⲁϥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟⲥ, ϫⲉ “ⲧⲉⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲛⲁⲕ, ⲡⲁϣⲃⲏⲣ ⲙⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲧⲁⲓⲏⲩ. ϯϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲙ̄ⲙⲁⲕ.

  - Ecco, infatti io riunirò per te una grande moltitudine, ed essa s'ingrandirà nel suo numero.
  - For behold, I will gather large crowds around you, and they will become very numerous in their number.
4. - ⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ϭⲉ, ⲛ̄ⲅⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⲛ̄ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛ̄ⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲧϩⲉ ⲉϯⲛⲁⲧⲥⲁⲃⲟⲕ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ, ϫⲉⲕⲁⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉ-ⲛ̄ⲗⲁⲟⲥ ϭⲛ-ⲙⲁ ⲛ̄ⲟⲩⲱϩ ⲛ̄ϩⲏⲧⲥ̄.
  - Alzati dunque e costruisci una grande chiesa nel modo che t'insegnerò, affinché la gente trovi posto in essa."
  - So arise, and construct a great church just like I will show you, so that the peoples shall find a residence inside.”
5. - ⲁϥⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲙ̄ⲙⲁϥ ⲁϥⲧⲥⲁⲃⲟϥ ⲉⲡⲧⲱϣ ⲧⲏⲣϥ̄ ⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲡⲉϥϣⲓⲏ ⲙⲛ̄ⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲥ.
  - E andò con lui ed Egli gli spiegò tutto il piano della chiesa e gli disse la sua lunghezza e la sua larghezza.

  - Il tuo compito sarà soltanto di parlare, quello invece di Michele di chiamare a raccolta, quello a sua volta di Papohe di custodire."
  - Your only task is to speak, whereas Michael's is to gather and Papohe's is to administer.”

  - Dopo ciò mio padre mi chiamò e mi disse tutte queste parole, e costruimmo la chiesa secondo il piano che ci aveva insegnato.
  - And afterwards, my father summoned me and told me about all these things. And we constructed the church just like the plan he'd shown us.
2. - ⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲣⲉⲛⲟⲩⲱϣⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲛⲁⲓⲁⲓ ⲡⲉϫⲉ-ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲛⲁⲓ, ϫⲉ “ⲉⲓⲥϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ, ⲁϥϩⲱⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛ̄ϭⲓⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲛⲙⲁⲕⲁⲣⲓⲟⲥ ⲛ̄ⲥⲟⲛ ⲁⲡⲁ ⲫⲓϥ.
  - Quando ci fummo moltiplicati e fummo diventati numerosi, mio padre mi disse: "Ecco, si è avvicinato il giorno del nostro beato fratello apa Phif.

  - Mandiamo a chiamare tutti i fratelli che sono nella montagna e faciamo un' "agape" in gioia e letizia, perché di lui il Signore disse a me:
  - Let us send for all the brothers in the monastery, and hold a thanksgiving with them in joy and celebration, for it is him about whom the Lord has told me,

  - Io mostrerò la mia gloria nel suo giorno ogni anno, e il mio nome avrà gloria su tutta la terra."

  - Io feci come mi aveva detto mio padre e mandai a chiamare in tutte le montagne e riunii insieme tutti i fratelli nel giorno santo che il Signore aveva dedicato al nostro fratello apa Phif.
  - And I did just like my father told me, and I sent (for them) in all the monasteries, and I gathered all the brothers for the holy day which the Lord created for our brother Apa Phib.
6. - ⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲣⲉⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ ϩⲛ̄ⲥⲟⲩϫⲟⲩⲧⲁϥⲧⲉ ⲙ̄ⲡⲁⲟⲡⲉ ⲁⲛⲣ̄-ⲧⲉⲩϣⲏ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ̄ ⲛ̄ⲥⲟⲩϫⲟⲩⲧⲏ ⲙ̄ⲡⲁⲟⲡⲉ ⲉⲛϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲛ̄ⲟⲩⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲙⲛ̄ⲟⲩⲟⲩⲣⲟⲧ ⲉⲛⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲛ̄ϩⲉⲛⲛⲟϭ ⲛ̄ⲥⲩⲛⲁⲝⲓⲥ ⲙⲛ̄ϩⲉⲛⲯⲁⲗⲙⲟⲥ ϩⲛ̄ⲟⲩⲟⲩⲣⲟⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲛⲧⲉⲗⲏⲗ ϩⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲛⲡⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ.

1. - ⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲣⲉ-ϩⲧⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲇⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ, ⲁϥⲙⲧⲟⲛ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟϥ ⲛ̄ϭⲓⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲛ̄ⲥⲟⲛ ϫⲉ ⲍⲁⲭⲁⲣⲓⲁⲥ, ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲉ-ⲟⲩϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲉϥϩⲟⲗϭ ⲛ̄ⲛⲁϩⲣⲛ̄ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ, ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲣⲉ-ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲙⲉ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲙⲁⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩ ⲉⲧϥ̄ⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙ̄ⲙⲟⲟⲩ, ⲁⲛϫⲓⲧϥ̄ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ, ⲁ-ⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ϭⲱ ⲉⲩⲙⲉⲗⲉⲧⲁ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲟⲩⲕⲟⲟⲥϥ̄.
  - Come venne l'alba, morì un piccolo fratello di nome Zacaria. Costui era un giovane gentile con tutti, e mio padre li amava moltissimo per tutti gli atti buoni che faceva. Lo portammo nella chiesa ed i fratelli rimasero a vegliarlo finché lo seppellisero.
  - When morning came, a young brother, Zacharias, lay to rest, and he had been a sweet child towards all, and my father loved him a lot due to the good deeds he did. We took him into the church, and the brothers continued meditating over him until he was prepared for burial.
2. - ⲉ-ⲛⲉ-ⲡⲛⲁⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛ̄ⲧϫⲡ-ⲥⲟ ⲡⲉ.
  - Infatti era l'ora sesta.
  - For the time was the sixth hour.
3. - ⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲕⲟⲟⲥϥ̄ ⲇⲉ, ⲛ̄ⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲁⲛⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛϣⲗⲏⲗ ϩⲓⲟⲩⲥⲟⲡ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁ-ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲧⲣⲉⲛⲡⲁϩⲧⲛ̄ ⲛ̄ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛ̄ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉϫⲙ̄ⲡⲉⲛϩⲟ.

  - Quindi mio padre si alzò e stette in piedi e disse ai fratelli: "In verità, tutti quelli che si sono prosternati in questo luogo oggi, Dio ha rimesso i loro peccati come nel giorno in cui sono nati.
  - Afterwards, my father arose and stood, and said to the brothers, “Truly any man who has prostrated himself here today, God has forgiven all their sins like on the day they were born.”

  - Alcuni fratelli dubitarono, altri invece gli credettero.
  - Some of the brothers were doubtful, but others believed him.

  - Allora sobbalzò il piccolo Zaccaria che era morto e si sedette, e i vestiti caddero da lui.
  - And the young brother Zachariah, who had died, leapt up and sat down, and the clothing unravelled off him.

  - "Uno è Dio, il Cristo Gesù nostro Signore." Si meravigliarono tutti quelli che stavano lì ed egli disse: "Credetemi, o popolo che ama Dio, che a chiunque si trovi qui oggi, Dio ha rimesso i peccati come nel giorno in cui nacque; e a quello che s'inginocchierà in questo luogo saranno rimessi i suoi peccati nel nome del nostro fratello apa Phif. Questo è un grande mistero, o miei fratelli e padri che amate Dio."
  - “God—Jesus Christ, our Lord—is One.” All who were standing were amazed, and he said, “Believe me, O devout people, that all who stand here today, God has forgiven their sins like on the day they were born, and whoever kneels here today will have their sins forgiven in the name of our brother Apa Phib. Great is this secret, my brothers and my devout fathers.”
